Condolences
What an illustrious career and beautiful life! No wonder her co-librarian and friend--my Mom--thought so highly of her! And yes, i remember her volunteering at the downtown library even after she retired. A truly sharp, conscientious, and dedicated professional! And it was also no wonder that she would have had a daughter like Joan to care for her in her latter years. It was with much awe and admiration that Mrs Irving's library friends observed this. My deepest condolences to the lovely and loving family.
I first met Betty when I began working at the library while I was a college student in the mid 60's. She was always kind and soft spoken with a great sense of humor. And she was obviously very intelligent and a dedicated and outstanding professional at all times. From those days at Crane and throughout the years it was always a pleasure to know and work with her. Like many others, I will have fond memories of her.
