PANTANO - John S. April 11, 2018, age 91. Beloved husband of the late Josephine R. (Butera) Pantano; devoted father of Teresa Lee Ferrari, JoAnne P. (late Thomas) Ryan, Joseph J. (Karen) Pantano and the late Charlene (Robert) Livingston; loving Papa of ten grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren and adopted Papa of many; also survived by many nieces, nephews and longtime friend Anita Gould. No prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Newman Center, 495 Skinnersville Rd., Buffalo, 14228. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in John's honor to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, 14094. John S. Pantano "Papa"- 91 years old army veteran, commercial flooring contractor John S. Pantano, a self employed business owner, operated one of the area largest commercial and retail flooring company in Buffalo. John died peacefully in Niagara Hospice at Northgate Health Care facility on the evening of 4/11/18. Born in Buffalo John was married to his "Doll", Josephine Butera, for 54 years who preceded him in death. John held many jobs prior to starting Westside Carpet in the 1960's located on Franklin Street, now housing the Buffalo Chop House. He carried a reputation for offering quality products and service while working with the cities most prominent architects and developers. His clients included some of Buffalo's prestigious retail stores and developments including: M&T Plaza, SUNY at Buffalo, Hens & Kelly's, Artpark and the Boulevard Mall. Called upon for his quality work John aided in the finishing of St. Bonaventure University and SUNY Brockport. He was an active member of the local carpenters union 1701, and The Buffalo Furniture Club. John's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends especially at his summer beach home located in Yacht Harbour, Ontario. His hospitality transcended generations; he was 'Papa' to both family and friends. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his beloved wife and family. He will always be remembered for his famous saying. 'I am not always right, but I am very seldom wrong'.
