Zimmerman - Earl L. "Bud"
Carnegie Hero Fund Medal recipient Earl L. Zimmerman, 87, of Williamsville passed away peacefully February 26, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Williamsville, N. Y., "Bud" was proud of his service in the Marines in WW II. He served in China at the age of 17 following three older brothers into the service.
Bud was honored with the Carnegie Hero Fund Medal and the American Legion Award for Outstanding Heroism after rescuing a man from a burning truck in 1951.
Bud attended Canisius College and owned a business in Williamsville for many years.
Beloved husband of the late Ethel Kelly. Dearest father of Susan Lewis; Patricia (Dan) Young; Earl, Jr. (Roxanne); Cindy (Gary) Ehmka; Kathleen (John) Golden; and Michael (Ann). Cherished grandfather of: Morgan; Lauren; Nicole; Danielle; Amy; Jeffrey; Kristin; Kevin; Natalie; Mitchell; ; Kevin; Kelly; Mike; Katie; and Matthew. Treasured great grandfather of: Madeline; Jonathan; Teddy; and Jack. Dear brother of Jean Gilday. Predeceased by seven brothers and sisters: Albert, Carl, Paul, Mary, Herbert Zimmerman, Rita Johnston and Lucille Broska.
Visitation will be Sunday 3-8 p.m. at BEACH-TUYN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 5541 Main Street (at Cayuga Rd) Williamsville.
Mass of Christian Burial Monday 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church presided over by his nephew Msgr. Robert E. Zapfel. Burial at St. Michael's Cemetery.
