Obituary of Arline M. Muhr
Muhr, Arline (Peterson)
Arline Muhr, a life-long resident of Williamsville, died Thursday, March 24, at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home in Lockport, NY. She was 91.
Born Arline Peterson, daughter of the late Albert and Marie Peterson of Williamsville, on Aug 19, 1919, she served with the Navy during the World War II era as a pharmacist's mate third class, discharged in 1946. Professionally, Arline was employed as a secretary for Commercial Chemical Corp. for many years.
Arline was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williamsville, and a devoted and much-loved Sunday School teacher, who oversaw the Christian education of nursery school-aged children at St. Paul's for over 50 years.
With Samuel, her late husband of 46 years, she was also active in fraternal organizations, and served as President of the Rebekah Assembly of New York, I.O.O.F. in 1987-88. She was a longtime member, past Noble Grand (presiding officer) and long-time Secretary of Williamsville Rebekah Lodge. She was also Past Matron, and Secretary for many years, of New Horizons Chapter No. 879, formerly Amherst Chapter No. 555, of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, Arline is also predeceased by her sisters, Winifred Hansen and Dorothy Stein, with whom she loved to share a laugh, play cards and join in family activities. She was beloved "Aunt Arnie" to her surviving nieces, Margot Phillips (and husband Joseph) of Colonie, N.Y., and Dolores Clouser of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and nephews, David Stein (and wife Barbara) of Pendleton; Theodore Hansen of Williamsville; and Thomas Hansen (and Ling Hu) of Great Valley, N.Y. She is also survived by eleven grand-nieces and nephews, and fourteen great-grand nieces and nephews, with whom she was delighted to spend many hours.
Calling hours are Sunday, 3 to 6 p.m., at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, 5541 Main Street, Williamsville, and services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle St., Williamsville. Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery in Pendleton; graveside observances will be private.
