My deepest sympathy to you, Bob, and your family. Although I have never met you, I certainly heard enough about you from loquacious Agnes. I have many fond memories of her at work. I remember how she would always tell the children to dress warm in winter, but Agnes would always sail in hatless, gloveless, and wearing her little black shoes no matter how cold it was. I remeber when a child poured paint on his head and I sent him to the nurse with a note that said, "Take care of this kid before I kill him". She later roared with laughter when I apologized to her. I remember how Agnes would patiently comb through hair looking for nits everytime we had an outbreak of lice in school.
I remember when a child had an epilectic seizure in my room, and Agnes hurried in, cradled tha child in her arms and took her off to await the ambulance. I remember Agnes always having a never-ending supply of dry clothes in her office for children who had accidents in class. I remember how the school hummed while the principal was away and Agnes was left in charge; and her quick wit always knew how to put the boss in his place. My last fond memory of her is attending my retirement party in 1997.
I sympathize with your loss, especially at this holiday, but I am thankful for having known Agnes. Heaven must be a very jolly place with her there.
