Obituary of Blanche E. Dudley
August 6, 1916 - July 18, 2010
Blanche E. Dudley, long time community leader, died peacefully in her home in Amherst. She was 93.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Mrs. Dudley was a member of the Tolsma family, one of the original founding families in Buffalo. Mrs. Dudley's father was a real estate investor in Kenmore. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1934.
Mrs. Dudley was married to Dr. Daniel C. Dudley and had sevin children. She worked as Treasurer for the Williamsville School District. Through her husband's efforts, the Faith United Church of Christ was founded at the corner of Maple and Hopkins in Amherst. She also served with him as co-president of Williamsville Schools PTA in 1968-69. She was a treasurer for the local UNICEF, and an officer in many bowling leagues. She was a member of the Amherst Business and Professional Women's Club.
Mrs. Dudley traveled the world. Always a supporter of her children's competitive swimming interests, she and her husband founded the Amherst Swim Club. She organized, directed and attended countless swimming meets.
Survivors include seven children: daughters Patricia, Minda (Willye), Jennifer (Ken), Leslie (Dennis) and Stephanie, sons Daniel and David, grandchildren Devon, Corey, Allison, Mark, Daniel P., Michael, Cynyhia, Brian, Sam, Flavia and Max, and a great-granddaughter Annabelle.
