Obituary of Linda A. Riedel

RIEDEL - Linda A. (nee Balash)
June 9, 2010; Of Williamsville; former
Music Teacher in West Seneca.
She was a graduate of West Seneca
in 1956 and Fredonia State in 1960.
She taught elementary school music
in West Seneca for a short time and
worked as an Office Manager in her
husband's optometric office. Born
Linda Balash in Buffalo, she married
Dr. William K. Riedel, an Optometrist
48 years ago and lived in Williamsville
and Siesta Key, FL. An avid volunteer
at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital
for over 25 years, she served on the
Woman's Board in many capacities,
one being recording Secretary and
Newsletter Chairman. Her love of music
brought her to sing over 30 years
in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Williamsville and played in
the Handbell Choir also. Earlier she
belonged to the Amherst Symphony
Woman's Group, also an active sports
woman, playing tennis for years along
with bowling. She loved to attend the
theater, concerts, and mostly loved
being with her family and traveling.
For 16 years she sang with the Buffalo
Philharmonic Chorus. She is survived
by her husband, Dr. William K. Riedel,
former Optometrist in Buffalo and Eggertsville;
her four wonderful children,
Mark Riedel of Philadelphia, Sandra
(William) Crume of South Carolina,
Kimberly Carroll of Tampa, FL and Dr.
William (Heather) Riedel O.D.; best
of all "OMA" to seven grandchildren,
Jake, Alex, Sydney, Ryan, Mackenzie,
Emma and Brianna; sister of Joyce
Balash. The family will be present to receive
friends Friday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at
BEACH-TUYN FUNERAL HOME INC.,
5541 Main St. (at Cayuga Rd.) Williamsville.
Friends are invited to attend
a funeral service Saturday morning
at 11 o'clock in St. Paul's Evangelical
Lutheran Church (Williamsville). Memorials
may be made to the American
