Obituary of Linda Holt Rekate
Linda Holt Rekate, SLP, Clinical Professor at UB, Philanthropist
Linda Holt Rekate, 77, died Thursday, June 18, 2020. She was a life long resident of Williamsville, New York. Graduating from Williamsville South and then graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo (UB).
Linda had a long and rewarding career as Clinical Assistant Professor in the UB Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences and served as the Director of the Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic at the University of Buffalo. Linda was a highly respected speech-language pathologist who specialized in working with individuals with stuttering disorders.
In later years, Linda, along with her pre-deceased husband Albert C Rekate, MD, continued his legacy in supporting as benefactor through several award endowements towards health sciences at UB. Their personal contributions were and will continue to support science and development focused on health sciences and communicative disorders.
Linda enjoyed golf, travel, gardening and spending time with family.
Linda is survived by Beloved Sister of Janet H Bailey and Aunt to Amy Hayward, Todd Bailey (Patti) and Laurie Vega also survived by loving niece and nephews Quinn and Kiernan Hayward, Ryan and Courtney Bailey and Joshua Vega. Also remembered by extended members of the Post (Suzanne) family of Little, Silver, NJ. The family will be holding a private service. Flowers gratefully declined.
