DONALD ELMER CORP

Donald E. Corp, 98, of Williamsville, NY peacefully passed away on January 26, 2020.
He was born on October 22, 1921 in Rochester, New York to the late Elmer J. Corp and Emma E. Corp.
In 1944, Donald graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering. He attended
the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. As a Radio Officer on the cruiser ship USS Denver in the
Philippines, he saw combat and received several medals. Following occupation duty in Japan, he was
discharged and returned to the United States.

In 1944, just prior to his military service, he married Dolores A. Hurd, also from Rochester. Together they
had five children. He is survived by sons James (Nancy), David (Ann), and daughters Patricia (Rick)
Coleman, and Donna (Christopher) Nichter. He was predeceased by his wife Dolores and his daughter
Pamela Diagostino.

1982 introduced another wonderful family into Donald’s life when he married Leoda D. Wardzala (nee
Jankowski). This union brought together Donald’s adult children and Leoda’s three adult children: Diane
(Ron) Gulla, Robert Wardzala, and the late Mark (Sherry) Wardzala. Leoda passed in 2017 at the age of
93. She was predeceased by infant Jamie.

Donald is survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Donald shared his love of boating and the outdoors with his family. For decades he
was a member of the Methodist church, serving with Dolores on various committees and volunteering
as youth group advisors. Leoda and he were avid card players, hosts to their many friends and family,
enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad, and were snowbirds between Williamsville and Ft. Myers, Florida.

Professionally, Donald worked for Cornell Aeronautical Lab (later to become Calspan) for 40 years,
retiring from his executive position in 1986.
