Helene S. Catalano
1950 - 2019
Condolences
I worked Helene for a couple years and she was always fun to be around. She will be miss but, not forgotten.
For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
We’ll see your smile in every ray
Of sunshine after rain
And hear the echo of your laughter
Over all the pain
The world’s a little quieter now
The colors have lost their hue
The birds are singing softly
And our hearts are missing you
Each time we see a little cloud
Or a rainbow soaring high
We’ll think of you and gently
Wipe a tear from our eye
My deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss. Helene was a and always will be a role model to me. Kind, Professional, Elegant, Classy, Wise...I worked with Helene at Hospice Buffalo for five years;1998-2003 and again recently when our paths crossed at The Salvation Army. I am sad and shocked at her sudden passing.... I wish you peace.
Helene was, and will continue to be, an inspiration of gratitude, strength and kindness. Her enduring compassion for all will always inspire me. May you all know peace.
So sorry for your loss. Helene we will miss you. Our prayers are with the family in this time of sorrow. May the Lord be with her.
We knew Helene through family gatherings with Sara and Padraig over the last nineteen years; the most recent was this past Christmas.
Helene always had a smile and kind words. Knowing her, it was easy to see how characteristic it was for her to give her love selflessly and without expectations to strangers and those in hospice who she cared for. She showed patience and compassion; love without judgment. She had an innate ability to know when someone needed comfort or help, whether that person was family or stranger.
This weekend we honor those who served, and Helene is certainly a shining example of one who served others with compassion, charity, and kindness.
We’ll never really know how much Helene touched our lives, but we do know we are better for having known her.
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON
I met Helene through the Buffalo Chapter of IAAP. She was a warm and wonderful lady who will be greatly missed.
What a wonderful woman Helene was! My adopted “Auntie” was my rock and sounding board this year... always caring and willing to pray with me. Safe in the arms of Jesus. Rest In Peace.... you will be forever missed.
Sincerest condolences to family and close friends. Helene was always a warm welcome with her beautiful smile and kind words.
Going to miss you Helene. She was the person who kept our High School class communicating after graduation. The orginazer, the friend and always concerned about others and how they were doing. Gone to soon!
Helene was my oldest and dearest friend. She was kind, compassionate, loving and wise - but also full of fun. I have so many treasured memories of her throughout so many years. I know they will comfort me in dealing with her loss. More than anything, Helene loved her children and grandchildren. She loved them unconditionally and wholeheartedly. I know that she left part of herself in each of their hearts. Love and hugs to all of them as they process her loss.
