Obituary of Joseph J. Kam

Doctor of Chiropractic, World War II Veteran Joseph J. Kam, Jr. made his transition on August 30, 2017 at age 93. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Muriel, his cherished daughter, Sandra L., and sister, Linda A. He was the brother of the late Charles and George. Born in Buffalo, he attended Kenmore High School but was drafted before graduation to enter the U.S. Air Corps. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant pilot until the war's end. His love of flying continued as he flew with a local flying club and privately until he was 80 years old. In 2013, he was a member of Honor Flight, a group of veterans honored to make a trip to Washington D.C to see the World War II Memorials. After the war, Dr. Kam attended and graduated from Logan Basic College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. In 1949, he returned to Buffalo and started a practice on Jefferson Avenue, followed by a purchase of a home and office on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, where he practiced until age 90. He received many awards from his membership in District #17 of the Chiropractic Association of New York. Among those were the Pioneer and Warrior Awards due to his faithfulness to the profession. Recently, Dr. Kam donated his vintage X-Ray machine to the Health Science Library of the University of Buffalo. In addition to his love of flying, Dr. Kame was an avid boatsman, spending many hours on the local waterways as well as in Georgian Bay, Ontario. He was the owner of a vintage classic lapstrake motorboat. Dr. Kam was a member of District #17, C.A.N.Y, the American Owners Pilot Association, Knights of Columbus #3076, American Legion Brounschidle Post #205, Concept Therapy Institute, Amherst Golf Club and the Clarence Senior Center.
